We are delighted to welcome our Choral Scholars for 2026-2027,  tenor WenLi Tioh and bass-baritone James Outtrim. We look forward to working with them in the season to come.

WenLi Tioh is a Malaysian tenor currently studying BA Music at Middlesex University. In 2025 and 2026, he was selected as a Malaysian representative for the World Youth Choir. He has also appeared as a guest singer with the Malaysian Voices Collective and Rondofest, and performed alongside the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Besides choral singing, WenLi is an active violinist and serves as music director for the Manjung Chamber Music Ensemble.

James Outtrim is a Bass-Baritone from Pinner who has recently graduated from the University of Bristol with a BA in English. James’ choral experience began with international tours, film recording and operatic chorus work with the Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School Schola Cantorum and has developed at university into solo and operatic singing.

While at university, James was an active member of Bristol University Singers, Madrigal Ensemble and Opera Society. He was also a choral scholar at Clifton Cathedral and sang roles with Bristol Opera and Tessitoura. Now graduated, James is continuing his musical development as a member of the Glyndebourne Academy and is looking to start a vocal performance masters at conservatoire next year.
